Last year`s champions Jharkhand, runners-up Karnataka and host Orissa joined NTR Delhi in the semifinals of the 7th All-India BSNL Hockey Tournament at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today.
Jharkhand and Karnataka won three league matches each to top the table in group ‘A’ and ‘B’ respectively. Orissa, UP (East) and Jammu-Kashmir tied for the top spot in group ‘C’ with one win apiece. However, Orissa pipped the other two teams on goal difference to book berth in the last-four round.
In the semifinals on Friday, Jharkhand and Karnataka will meet NTR Delhi and Orissa respectively.
Results (League matches): UP (East) bt Jammu-Kashmir 2-0, Jharkhand bt Gujarat 4-0, Madhya Pradesh bt Maharashtra 3-0, Tamil Nadu bt West Bengal 2-0, Karnataka bt MTNL Delhi 5-0.
